Construction

I completed the Level 7 in Construction Management in May this year. This programme helped me to develop as a person, meet new people and understand the practical and theoretical side of construction. I am presently on the Construction Management Level 8 programme.

In 2017 I made the decision to return to education as a mature student and I graduated recently with a Level 7 Degree in Quantity Surveying. This course along with the excellent guidance of the lecturers, the hands on, in class and online experience of the course topics will be a huge help to me as I navigate my way through the Level 8 Honours Degree.

Attending the Department of Construction in CIT was a life-changing experience. The lecturers in the Department were greatly supportive and the course content was highly informative and provided me with a strong theoretical foundation in Construction Management. The knowledge I have acquired at CIT has enabled me to pursue a Master’s Degree.

I work as a Junior Quantity Surveyor with Brian M. Durkan & Co Ltd, Property Developer, Dublin. In this role I am gaining experience across the entire spectrum of a career in Quantity Surveying. From cost planning, estimating and preparation of Bills of Quantities to sub-contractor procurement, negotiation, interim valuations and final accounts.
